Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

I've been going here for about two years. They know me and my three typical orders by name. They make fantastic food. Lighter sauces and fresher ingredients compared to most Chinese food places. I recommend the garlic chicken, if you want something spicy or chicken and vegetables, if you want something light or sesame chicken, if you want something sweet.

My brother-in-law orders from here on a regular basis. With family in town, this was the logical place to get dinner for five us. The pot stickers have a great filing; they were tender and not overlooked. Grade: very good. This place does both Chinese and Japanese food. We ordered a tempura roll. The filing included a full size shrimp. Everyone loved it. Grade: good. The batter was good, but what I have tasted elsewhere. We ordered BBQ pork pan fried noodles. This was good and had plenty of vegetables. Good sauce. The best dishes were the Mongolian beef and the garlic tofu. Both had rich sauces. The tofu had a nice bite. We had a great dinner; glad we ordered from here. We will do it again when we are back in town.

This place has a wonderful atmosphere and you feel it as soon as you sit down. I call it calm the wait staff is easy going and make you feel at home. The food is so good and has that homecoming feel after you've eaten. You'll love it

Was real disappointed coming from a bigger food mecca like Las Vegas. The crab roll was so dry first of all. The miso soup was ok but no tofu or seaweed in it. Noodles could have been better.

Ok I'm being harsh here, but I had high expectations. Umami was billed as the best Asian food in town. The first time I came in an hour before closing and they told me they had run out of food. This seemed very strange to me, but hey, maybe they are just that good. The next time I came well ahead of closing. They were closed.... No explanation, no sign, no nothing. But hey, third time's the charm, right? I came in here with a buddy and ordered a dinner special to go, a shredded pork dish. It came with a piece of fried shrimp, an egg roll, and a fried won ton. It was all decent, but I've been spoiled by the Chinese food back home, where this would have been decidedly unremarkable. It was also a bit more pricey than I would have expected for the quality and portion, about $13. Still, this would probably have been a 4-star review had it not been for the hype and had I not been turned away twice.

Hard to review this place. The wife and I ordered the Green Dragon and were impressed with its freshness and flavor. Would order it again. We also ordered some take out for my parents, a Beef Broccoli and a Chicken with Vegetables, both from the lunch special menu. Unfortunately, the egg rolls were both very greasy and smelled of old cooking oil, the chicken dish was tasteless and the beef broccoli was watery. The egg drop soup was also lacking in flavor. Based on this experience, my advice would be to stick with the sushi menu. The Chinese dishes were just barely average and not worth the money, even at their reasonable prices.
(3)Aaron W.
Great Chinese food and sushi! Not too bad on price, and the food is very high quality. One of my favorite lunch places in G-Funk for a nice meal with my wife. Had the Mongolian beef and lo-main chicken -- both were great. Fried rice was not greasy at all.
(4)Minnie M.
Okay, this place was not amazing, a bit over priced on sushi but I'm guessing it's expensive to get Asian ingredients in a city like great falls?? The service was good though and I liked our waitresses. Chinese food was just like any Chinese food place. I might just stick with my home cooking but if I was lazy I'd go here again.
(3)Tara B.
Love the food here! I ordered off the lunch menu which has a nice selection and includes soup, eggroll, fried or steamed rice as well as the entree. I like their tea as it's unique! Would have liked ice in my water and you will more than likely have to pay for parking. So bring your quarters!
(5)Heather C.
Love this place. Great food and great snergy! Love everything I have tried!! Huge fan of the California Roll and the egg drop soup. Very fresh!!
(5)Angie C.
went there for sushi and I guess they didn't have any other than that the staff was friendly an food was great didn't take long def have to go there to taste the sushi!
(4)Jason F.
If I could give this place zero stars I would! Their business must be great to turn away customers a whole half hour before they close! They were rude and unwilling to serve us, even though they clearly stated their closing time was 8:00 and we came in at 7:30! They offered to let us order take out...really? If you can cook food for take out, you could have seated us and served us too! Beware before you go to this place...their food may be good but service is TERRIBLE!!!
(1)Fallon H.
Hands down one of my favorite places to eat at in town! So far I've enjoyed everything I have ever ordered! I would highly recommend coming here and getting some food!
(5)Corey S.
The lunch crowd was a little light, which worried me at first, but it wasn't because the food or wait-staff weren't both great. The place looks a little sketch from the outside, but the food was great. I had two spicy tuna roles, which I expected to be served "inside-out" (i.e. nori on the inside, rice on the outside) but they were still delicious! Because I hate myself, I also had the kung-pow shrimp. Again, delicious. No hesitation going back.
(4)Cindy C.
The BEST oriental restaurant in Great Falls... Small ..... The food is so fresh and they have the best pot stickers in the state!!! Very reasonable!!! We always bring out of state friends and family there...... They are always impressed!!!
(5)J. O.
Wow... My girlfriend and I have been wanting to try this place for a while now. We had heard it was good, but even with that expectation I was surprised how much I enjoyed the "Dragon Rolls". We ordered a Red Dragon, Green Dragon, and added a plate of Chicken Lo Mein, all to share. The Green Dragon Roll was our favorite. This incredibly crafted (by hand) roll was topped with thin slices of avocado which made a killer combo with the tempura shrimp inside and a soy wasabi mix for dipping. Really great meal and pleasant experience.
(5)Melissa W.
This is the fourth time in less then a month that we have been here! This place is amazing!!! By far my favorite restaurant in Great falls. Awesome service and delicious food!!!
(5)Joan O.
The sushi was really good. We had the Angry Hamacha roll, delicious but for $18, we expected a bigger roll. 8 pieces was what we got, and not very big pieces. Also had the spicy tuna roll, also delicious but 6 very tiny pieces, maybe 3/4 of an inch across. The Hunan Beef was also delicious, but 2 of us split it, and it wasn't enough. Left having enjoyed the food, but for a $48 dinner (including a $5 tip) we left kind of half hungry.
(3)Wes M.
Had the Kung Pao chicken. Flavorful, spicy, and very good. Didn't give me any grief when I did what I usually do, and added carrots and broccoli and dropped the zucchini. Rest of family seemed very pleased with their meals as well. Service was a little bit slow, but I'd go there again in a heartbeat.
(5)Keith K.
I had the pleasure of dining in for the first time a few weeks ago, and it was excellent. Until this point I had only been teased by the leftovers brought home by family members on 2 other occasions. I LOVE Sushi and the Rainbow Roll I had was excellent! Freshly prepared and absolutely delicious; the wasabi is hot enough to make you choke! That evening I was able to try a few other things worth noting: The Hot and Sour Soup IS spicy and making me hungry just thinking about it. The Egg Drop Soup is very flavorful and NOT full of artificially colored soup base flavoring like other places use. The Lo Mein is excellent and the single dinners are a great deal and come with more than enough food. We missed the first Pho night and Cajun or BBQ night and are definitely looking forward to the next time they have a special menu night! I must say based on experience and the earlier reviews posted I must surmise the ONE poor rating of Umami must have come from someone really not familiar with sushi. Knock 'em down a star for running out of food, but that "dry and brownish" fish is eel, because that's the way eel is. The crab in my roll was real crab but I can't say what's used in the wontons.
(5)Keri P.
This place is the worst Chinese/Japanese restaurant I've ever been to. I'm new to sushi and I'm gluten and dairy intolerant. I told the waitress this. She showed me on the menu and what to get. I said I know I like sushi rolls with rice and avocado also I don't mind the raw fish. She described something to me that was the description on of a SUSHI ROLL! I then ordered the $15 item. She brought me sushimi, which is a plate of raw salmon. I was very confused. When she came back I declared that this isn't what I ordered. She was nervous acting and argued with me about it. I kept it and was very disappointed. She then came back to my table with a plate of yellow sushi with FRIED SHRIMP INSIDE.. I'm Gluten intolerant.. ( it makes me very sick) She said this plate was a trade out for the sushimi.. So having the non touched sushimi on my table I assumed I wouldn't be charged! WRONG! She charged me for both plates which was $30 in sushi. She asked the manager to override the platter of non eaten sushimi but he just sent her back with the message of "no". I'm never going back. Worst experience ever.

Good food, wonderful atmosphere staff was very friendly. Avoid the fried rice. Completely worthless. Will deffinently be back.

We moved to Great Falls 8 months ago and I immediately turned to Yelp to help direct our eating adventures - and was repeatedly sent into some nasty, pathetic joints. FORTUNATELY Umami is a restaurant worth reviewing even if the local yelp community seems a little lackluster. What I love about Umami: Great sushi at a great price that compares/competes with Sushi in any major U.S. city. Eel, salmon, tuna - all of it tastes good and the rolls are a good size. PHO DAY!!! YES they did respond to their customers - no restaurant EVER does that. Great Chinese entrees - high quality vegetables, sauces that aren't overdone, rice that tastes fresh. Super personal service, check out their facebook where they do an awesome job connecting with the community/their customers. Umami's "competitors" are Kobe and Suki's cafe...except they don't really compete. This is a great restaurant, great food, great owners, great dining experience! We are LUCKY to have them and hopefully they will be here for a very long time.
(5)P W.
Had lunch which consisted of Cashew Chicken and Sesame Chicken. Both dishes were quickly served and hot. We were promptly seated with the interior of the restaurant being clean and modern. The meals came with egg drop soup, fried rice, and an egg roll. The food was great and we will definitely be back.
(4)Jasmine A.
It's pretty crazy! I always go to yelp for reviews but I never leave one! THis place is amazing. I am from NYC (best Chinese food ever) and this food definitely reminds me of home. My friends and I are always craving take-out and now we've found our place. Although they don't have delivery I will definitely make the trip into town for this food. The portions are great for an adult. I love the additional sides that come with the meal. It makes it well worth the money! I ordered the chicken and broccoli and it was spot on. It came with a salad, egg roll and egg drop soup! If you want great Chinese food try this place!
(5)Kristi J.
I have been missing PF Chang's badly since moving from Seattle. This place is a the next best thing. The lettuce wraps may even be better, they use butter lettuce instead of iceberg. The spider rolls are very flavorful and aesthetically pleasing. The main dishes are big enough for two, tastey without toomuch grease or salt. Our food came out fast, place is clean.
(5)Tara H.
I really, really wanted to like Umami. Unfortunately, I can't say that I did. Maybe we just caught them on a bad night. We tried to order edamame; they were out. We wanted to order more sushi; we were told they were out of sushi. WHAT?!? Out of nori, or out of rice, or out of fish or what? Maybe it was it just too close to closing? Anyway, the rolls we did have were ok, except we're not sure whether it was crab or krab. One of the fish types on the rainbow roll was dry and brownish, but I can't say for sure that it wasn't supposed to be. The soy and wasabi were tasteless. All in all, we were very disapointed
(2)Liz K.
I try not to leave bad feedback but this is the 3rd time this has happened. Their customer service with take-out orders is pretty awful. I get that they're busy, but everytime I call they give me a ridiculous ETA (over an hour) and all I'm ordering is soup! Their Chinese is good, but it seems they don't want take out orders.
(1)Megan B.
Easily the best sushi in Great Falls! I was incredibly impressed with the freshness of all the ingredients. I had a red dragon roll (sriracha!), a red tuna roll (tuna + jalapeño!), and veggie egg rolls. I will without a doubt be a regular here! So glad to see a quality restaurant like this I'm Great Falls!
(5)Montana M.
The best Sushi in Great Falls, Montana!!! Finally!!!! I was skeptical..I was yeah right, and was prepared to be disappointed. But it was delicious and comparable to the sushi found in a larger city. I tried the Unagi, Maguro, and Yellow Fin...all very, very fresh. The California Roll was also great. Also tried the Szechaun vegetables. The vegetables were not your standard and included a much wider variety of vegetables. Very fresh tasting. The staff was very friendly, which is always a bonus. The place could use some decor...I know they just opened so this might be coming. Thanks for opening Umami...good luck to you. I will be eating there A LOT!!
(5)Heather R.
Finally a great Chinese restaurant in great falls! We've been waiting. Fresh vegetables in the veggie fried rice make all the difference. Everything we've tried has been great. Good portion size. The employees are friendly and helpful. We usually get our food to go, but the dining area is clean and pleasant. Highly recommend this place!
(5)Donald M.
Really enjoyed the food and the service was spot on. We did get there early for dinner.
(4)Mark O.
I drove by the place about a month ago and the place looked empty. I thought it would not make it but told myself I have to give it a try. Finally got around to trying it tonight and it was fantastic!!!! The lettuce wraps were as good if not better than any I had in a bigger city. My wife had a red tuna roll that looked great and tasted even better than it looked. I had the Kung Pao chicken dinner. It was excellent! Veggies were not over cooked and the sauce was great.. Service was very friendly and fast. I hope they have plan to expand into the next door room for a good as their food is they will be busy and will need the space. Finally Great Falls has a great authentic asian restaurant!
(5)Rachel B.
Beat sushi in town. Good friendly services as well. All the food is fresh and delicious.
(5)Gregg D.
Californians passing thru Steak Country tripped over this place. The Sushi is excellent. The chinese food is comparable to any normal Bay Area cantonese restaurant, but the value is excellent - $12 for a large dinner portion, and cheese wonton and spring roll and soup. They opened at 4:30 pm the day we arrived, starving. There were several other tables filled by 5pm, and a bustling take-out business. I suspect this is a 5 star rating in the context of Montana, but there are better places in the Bay Area - however, likely few are better values. Ambience is clean, spare, functional. Staff is attentive but not intrusive.
(4)Jamie G.
DEEEEELISH! Mongolian Beef is moan out loud good. Lettuce wraps are great as are the cheese wontons. Best Chinese in Great Falls!
(5)Hanne A P.
I was passing through town and wanted to grab some takeout to bring back to my hotel after a long drive. Super quick service. I wanted to try sushi, but was hesitant because Montana isn't exactly on the coast. I tried the chicken low mein, pot stickers, veggie egg rolls and egg drop soup. Plenty for left overs the next day. Everything was super tasty, though I wasn't as impressed with the veggie egg rolls. Over cooked and a little bland. Only reason for giving them four instead of five stars.
(4)Molly B.
Great environment very relaxing, clean, service is good, had the veggi egg roll, Alaska roll and umami roll, a well as some moshoo pork and beef lomien. I am not a fan of Chinese food, but I loved the walnut shrimp. The rolls take forever, and are all right. I prefer suki rolls over this place . Not a lot of room In reastraunt for customers to sit
(3)Ms F.
Are you kidding me? People of Great Falls,Mt. if you are looking for deliciously awesome sushi/chinese food restaurant you have to find this place! The only reason I knew it existed was because of fellow yelpers in this town. Their lunch portions are very generous I ordered chicken lo-mein and 1.00 xtra you get veggies. Very friendly staff who you can tell want you to enjoy the food. Brought my girlies here for dinner and everyone was happy we got octopus, crab, los angeles roll, shrimp tempura roll oh man we were full and happy And a small spicy tuna roll :) ! Finally a restaurant here we all can agree on. The decor is simple and beautiful and we here they might have Pho on Saturdays! We have definitely found our spot!
(5)Gerard D.
My first time at Sushi. It was good. The rest of the menu looked great. Will go back to try it.
(4)Sam M.
This 5 star review is specifically for the sushi. It's really good, which is saying a lot in Great Falls, MT. The rest of the food is just average. i would give it 3 stars. And the price is fair.
(5)John M.
The food was absolutely delicious. We had Chinese and just one of the sushi rolls. Schezuan chicken and Mongolian beef were super tasty.
(5)Frankie H.
This place has great food. Their hot and sour soup is delicious, husband LOVES the sushi! The service has always been great, fantastic for working lunches because you are always in and out within an hour. Finally a place in Great Falls that has Boba Tea!! I love everything about Umami, try it you would be sorry you did.

This 5 star review is specifically for the sushi. It's really good, which is saying a lot in Great Falls, MT. The rest of the food is just average. i would give it 3 stars. And the price is fair.

The food was absolutely delicious. We had Chinese and just one of the sushi rolls. Schezuan chicken and Mongolian beef were super tasty.
